The workshops under the name of Project Argus were organised by Warwickshire Police. They were aimed at managers, assistant managers and floor supervisors in businesses located within crowded places in urban settings, such as bars and clubs, to raise awareness about the threat of terrorism and to provide practical advice on preventing, handling and recovering from an incident.
People who attended the workshops gave very useful feedback and officers are now looking to deliver more workshops across the county.
Detective Inspector Steve Sidaway said: "The recent explosion which took place in Exeter last week only goes to highlight the importance of being prepared to deal with such an incident.
"Businesses of all sizes need to plan how they would deal with the disruption caused by an emergency or incident in order that it is managed as effectively as possible and to protect further harm from happening.
"What we know of the threat from international terrorism is that places where large numbers of people gather, travel or go about their daily business can be favoured for attack. There is however, no information to suggest that Warwickshire is any more likely to suffer a terrorist attack than any other part of the country. Equally, it is no less and preparedness is the key."
DI Sidaway added: "For those members of our community who wish to find out more about how they can increase their knowledge and preparedness, the following Websites provide specialist advice. This is very important information, which will enable business leaders to respond more effectively if a serious incident occurs in their area. I urge as many people as possible to take this opportunity to help prepare in case such an incident should occur."
